Xbox 360 Controller Charger Kit Driver

Many PC games let you play with an Xbox controller instead of a keyboard or mouse. The Xbox 360 Controller for Windows can be quickly and easily installed on any PC that has an available USB port and is running Windows XP Service Pack 2 or later.

Note This information applies only to the Xbox 360 Controller for Windows. For help with other gamepads or joysticks, or for information on configuring a specific game so that you can play it with a controller, refer to the manufacturer s website or support center.

Step 1: Install the Xbox 360 Controller for Windows software

Note A standard Xbox 360 wired controller can be connected to a Windows PC by way of the USB port, but drivers must be installed before the controller will work.

Use the installation CD that came with your Xbox 360 Controller for Windows before you connect the controller to your computer:

Insert the installation disc in the CD or DVD drive on your computer. If the setup program doesn t automatically start, browse to your CD or DVD drive and run the setup program.

On the setup screen, click Install.

The Xbox 360 Accessories setup program installs the necessary files to your computer.

Note You might be prompted to restart your computer after the installation is complete.

If you don t have an installation disc for your Xbox 360 Controller for Windows, you can download and install the software online:

Go to the Software Downloads section of the Microsoft Hardware website.

Select Gaming as the product type.

Select Xbox 360 Controller for Windows as the product.

Select the version of Microsoft Windows you re using on your computer, select your operating system language, and then click Download.

Click Run.

Step 2: Connect the Xbox 360 wired controller to your computer

After you install the software, plug your Xbox 360 wired controller s USB connector into a USB 2.0 port on your computer.

Step 3: Test the controller

To test your Xbox 360 wired controller on your computer, follow these steps:

On your computer, click Start, type Run, type joy.cpl, and then press ENTER.

Select Xbox 360 Controller, and then click Properties.

Test your Xbox 360 wired controller by pressing a button, pulling a trigger, or moving a stick on the controller. If the controller is functioning correctly, you ll see the corresponding action light up in the application. If the application doesn t recognize your controller, see Troubleshoot your Xbox 360 controller for Windows.

Note A standard Xbox 360 wireless controller can be connected to a Windows PC, but you must have an Xbox 360 Wireless Gaming Receiver to play games, even if you have an Xbox 360 Play Charge Kit.

Step 1: Connect the Xbox 360 Wireless Gaming Receiver to your computer

Remove the green label from the wireless gaming receiver.

Insert the gaming receiver s USB connector into a powered USB 2.0 port on the computer on the front or back of your computer.

Note The USB ports on the front of your computer may not be powered USB 2.0 ports. Try using one of the ports on the back of your computer.

A green light on the receiver indicates that the unit is working.

If the Add New Hardware Wizard starts automatically, select Install the software automatically Recommended, and then click Next. If the wizard installs the software successfully, click Finish and then skip to Step 3: Connect the Xbox 360 wireless controller to your computer below.

If the wizard fails to install the software, continue to Step 2.

Step 2: Install the Xbox gaming receiver software

If you have the installation disc that came with your Xbox 360 Wireless Gaming Receiver, you can install the software from that disc. If you don t have the disc, you can install the software by downloading it online.

To install the software from a disc:

Insert the installation disc into the CD or DVD drive of your computer. If the setup program doesn t automatically start, browse to your CD or DVD drive and run the setup program.

Follow the steps to install the software.

Note You might be prompted to restart your computer after the installation is complete.

To install the software by downloading it online:

Go to the Software Downloads section of the Microsoft Hardware website.

Select Gaming as the product type.

Select Xbox 360 Wireless Controller for Windows as the product this is the software for the wireless gaming receiver.

Select the version of Microsoft Windows you re using on your computer, select your operating system language, and then click Download.

Click Run.

Step 3: Connect the Xbox 360 wireless controller to your computer

Turn on the Xbox 360 wireless controller by pressing and holding the Guide button, which is the larger circular button located in the middle of the controller near the top.

On the receiver, press the connect button which is a circular button located near the middle of the receiver. The light will flash green.

Press the connect button on the controller, which is a small circular button located on the top of the controller as you hold it in your hands.

Green flashing lights on the controller and on the receiver indicate that the device is trying to establish a connection. When the light stops flashing and remains lit, the controller is connected. On a wireless controller, one of the lights around the Guide button will remain lit. If you still can t connect, see Troubleshoot your Xbox 360 controller for Windows.

I am having a similar problem, yet more problematic. I purchased the official XBox 360 Wireless Gaming Receiver, installed the drivers from the CD that came with it, and then plugged in the receiver to a USB port. The light comes on the receiver and blinks

The problem is you have to download the appropriate drivers for it to connect with the wireless receiver you should be able to google it to find the drivers Not that easy to find though and as for the charging problem its the controller itself. I have

the very same issue with my late model red xbox 360 controller where it won t charge through the pc at all it just like you said it flashes green then turns off then nothing but my white 360 controller charges perfectly through the pc no problem my guess is

As mentioned above the Charge and Play Kit DOES let the controller talk to your Xbox when it s plugged in. It is connecting to more than just the battery then. It is giving full wired control to the Xbox.

The fact that it doesn t talk to your PC sounds like MS just wants you to go out and buy the wireless adapter. The Device Manager and Devices Printers DOES indicate it SEES the controller, downloads and installs drivers and correctly identifies it as a

Hey paul can you help me. I have the wireless reciever and have already installed the software. When I conect the reciever to the computer I get the sound off for the usb port but the light doesn t blink on the reciever and then the reciever disconects

The good news is that the plug and charge WILL work with the pc, its just an edit needs to be made to the drivers. me and my mate stripped a wired and a wireless controller and traced the circuits the plug and charge MAY charge the battery, yes but its all

circuited virtually identically take the battery out and you can still use the controller, yes its wireless but it will work like a wired controller. My proof being, If you have two xbox s, you have to press the signal buttons to switch the controller from

one console to another now wrap your controller in aluminum foil oh look it DC ed connect the plug and charge wire and re-wrap it in foil its a wireless controller but the cable makes it act wired. full signal. this proves the plug and charge wire

does actually send and recieve more than just charge/battery data. so, theoretically, it can be used on a windows pc to play games. whew now the bad news: Nobody i have found has yet edited the drivers for the plug and charge wire to make it work. so

Im about to buy the Play and Charge Kit with controller as i already have a Microsoft XBoX wireless reciever, from my previous controller being stolen from what ive read, the Play and Charge kit will charge my controller through the PC and the when done chaging

THE FEW SOLUTIONS, as i have found after a couple of my tests may be:

-On Windows XP Professional 32bit SP3, this never happens, and always worked OK, for me

If you want you computer to recognize a controller as a xbox 360 controller instead of unknown device you can manually get the driver for that. here s a basic tutorial:

click start

right click computer

click manage

go to device manager

find your controller, it should be named unknown device at this point

right click it and update driver software

Why Do Windshields Crack and What Should I Do if It Happens to Me?

There are many different types of windshield cracks, but most of them occur from an object impacting the glass. Often these are rocks which fall off of dump trucks, or objects which are kicked up by tires of another car. When the object hits the outside edge of the windshield it will usually result in one long crack, whereas objects that impact toward the center of the glass will cause starbust cracks. These are many small cracks emanating from the central point of impact.

The type of crack caused by impact is often determined by where the object strikes the windshield. For example, a floater crack starts anywhere away from the edge of the windshield farther than two inches from the edge. These can start out small and then spread in any direction. An edge crack usually forms at the moment of impact, and is usually ten to twelve inches long. As the name implies, these cracks begin within two inches of the edge of the windshield or reach the edge.

Often a crack in a windshield began as a small chip. Generally speaking, cracks less than six inches can be repaired. Those which are longer or reach the edge of the windshield will usually necessitate replacement of the entire windshield.

These are most common windshield crack types:

Bull s Eye – Damage to glass caused by a rock or other object that is circular, typically with a cone in the outer layer of the glass. It is is similar to a chip, in the sense that a chunk of glass has been removed by the impact, but it is larger

Chip – Damage to glass caused by a rock or other object that causes a small piece of glass to come off the windshield.

Combination Break – When there are multiple types of breaks in a windshield, such as a chip with cracks coming off of it.

Crack Chip – A single crack that can be covered with a quarter with an impact point.

Ding – Terms used by general public to describe a chip

Edge Crack – A crack that starts within 2 of the edge of the windshield, or reaches the edge of the windshield. It normally forms immediately, and starts at 10-12 long.

Floater Crack – A crack that starts in the middle of the windshield anywhere that is not within 2 of the edge of the windshield.

Half Moon – Damage to glass caused by a rock or other object that is similar to a bull s eye crack, but not completely circular.

Long Crack – A crack that is over about 6 15cm long, which many windshield repair methods are unable to fix

Partial Bulls-Eye – Same as Half Moon.

Pit – An area where a small piece of glass is missing.

Star Break – series of short radial cracks coming off of the impact point, resembling a star.

Stone Break – A small chip that occurs when a stone or other hard item hits the windshield. It can then become a large crack over time.

Stress Crack – A crack that occurs without anything hitting the windshield, typically due to a large variation in the temperature. One situation that might cause stress cracks is when a car becomes overheated from sitting in the sun, and then the air conditioner is turned on high or the car is washed with very cold water. The opposite example would be a very cold car suddenly being exposed to heat. This is why, in the winter, ice should be scraped or melted off the windshield with cold water, but never with warm or hot water. It almost always starts at the edge of the windshield. Stress cracks will normally be a straight or slightly bending line, and will not have any sign of impact. A pen test is often used to determine if there is a stress crack a ballpoint pen is run along the crack, and if it dips anywhere, it is not a stress crack. That is because with a stress crack, no glass actually comes off the windshield.

What Causes Windshields to Crack.. Windshield cracks can confound the most astute vehicle owner, especially when there were no outward signs of a hole, chip or crack.

Many of us have had the unpleasant experience of innocently driving along when an errant piece of gravel or other mysterious road debris suddenly puts a dent in our vehicle s windshield. Types of Cracks

Edge crack

The most common type of crack, the edge crack is the cause of 60 to 80 percent of windshield replacements. Because of how they are manufactured and installed, the outer 2 to 3 inches of a windshield the Crack Zone have stress defects, which cause this area to fracture much more easily than the rest of the windshield. Even tiny cracks can become 8- to 10-inch long cracks.

Stone break

A small chip that occurs when a stone or other hard debris hits the windshield. This can develop into a large crack over time.

Circular ding, with a cone in the outer layer of glass. A half moon crack is similar, but not completely circular.

Chip

Damage by a rock that causes a small piece of glass to break off the windshield.

Floater crack

Less common than an edge crack is the floater crack, which is caused by severe temperature changes especially cold temperatures to stone breaks.

Stress crack

A crack that occurs without anything actually hitting the windshield. The most common causes are a large variation in temperature, like if your car has been sitting in the hot sun all day and then you blast the AC.

Does outside temperature matter.

In a word, yes. Without going too much into an explanation of the thermal coefficient of expansion, suffice it to say that a wide range of temperatures has a very direct effect on a chipped windshield. The metal in the frame of your car or truck can expand and contract at a different rate than the windshield glass. This places stress on the windshield frame, which cracks the glass further.

Should I be worried about a crack in the windshield.

Absolutely. Windshields are critical safety devices that help prevent injury and death. They not only prevent ejection during a crash, but also serve as the backboard for airbags by controlling 20 percent of the crash pulse, which tells the airbag when to deploy during an accident. Windshields also support the roof of the vehicle, which is essential during rollover accidents.

Can you stop a crack once it starts.

Once a windshield is cracked, the stress placed on the ends of the crack almost guarantees that the crack will continue to spread along the same line, much like faults that produce earthquakes. The only exception to this is a conchoidal dish-shaped fracture that has no obvious outward rays. Cracks like this rarely spread. But for chips with little cracks radiating out from the center, expect it to spread out.

How much does it cost to replace a windshield. Should I do it.

According to some experts, no replacement windshield is as good as the original. Not only are many replacements done incorrectly, but the initial windshield has to pass so many government tests, that original factory installation cannot be duplicated in the aftermarket. Your best bet is to prevent replacement if possible. You can achieve this by using crack prevention products.

Many insurance companies will repair cracks for free in place of replacing the entire windshield. For cracks that are smaller than 6 inches, repair is recommended. But there are companies that offer products to repair cracks up to 24 inches long.

Chips in the windshield generally cost around 50 to fix. Cracks can cost anywhere from 100 to 200 to repair. Replacing a windshield costs hundreds of dollars and rises to over 1000 if an OEM windshield is used.

How can you prevent cracks.

If you can, park your car in a garage or other temperature-controlled environment. Leaving your car out in the sun or in the cold tends to make the edges of the glass more brittle.

If you notice a crack or ding in your windshield, have it looked at immediately. The longer you wait, the more damage you are in for.

The U2SCX has two different operation mode and switches automatically.

USB mass storage mode

With Microsoft standard Mass Storage class driver. Supports only one SCSI device per one U2SCX.

SCSI emulation mode

With RATOC original driver. Supports up to seven SCSI devices in daisy per one U2SCX. You must use this mode for image scanners, film scanners or other SCSI devices except mass storage devices.

SCSI emulation mode is only for Windows.
