xbox 360 controller charger kit driver

Hi Paul_Smith,

I am having a similar problem, yet more problematic. I purchased the official XBox 360 Wireless Gaming Receiver, installed the drivers from the CD that came with it, and then plugged in the receiver to a USB port. The light comes on the receiver and blinks

as it is supposed to. But the XBox 360 wireless controller does not connect to it. Also, my wireless controller has the Play Charge Kit, and when I plug it into my computer s USB port, the charging light flashes green and then turns off even when the

batteries are not fully charged. Something doesn t seem to be working. I am using Windows XP.

The problem is you have to download the appropriate drivers for it to connect with the wireless receiver you should be able to google it to find the drivers Not that easy to find though and as for the charging problem its the controller itself. I have

the very same issue with my late model red xbox 360 controller where it won t charge through the pc at all it just like you said it flashes green then turns off then nothing but my white 360 controller charges perfectly through the pc no problem my guess is

Microsoft wants you to buy a quick kit to avoid charging it through the 360 hope this helped and I am also on xp SP2

I know that you must buy the microsofts xbox 360 s controller for windows wich is actually made for pc gaming kinda like the logitech s playstaion lookin ones anyways you can pick them up at best buy for like 60.00euro yepyep thats all i can say but ive

got them chreap wen they first camer out and have two for that price check out on ebay.com

Yeah, I believe the answer is accurate i.e. it won t work but I think the battery only answer is kinda BS.

As mentioned above the Charge and Play Kit DOES let the controller talk to your Xbox when it s plugged in. It is connecting to more than just the battery then. It is giving full wired control to the Xbox.

The fact that it doesn t talk to your PC sounds like MS just wants you to go out and buy the wireless adapter. The Device Manager and Devices Printers DOES indicate it SEES the controller, downloads and installs drivers and correctly identifies it as a

Xbox 360 Wireless Controller via Play Charge Kit but it doesn t work.

Yeah, that is a feature dictated by marketing NOT by any technical reason.

For this reason I am MORALLY obligated to NOT go out an buy a wireless adapter no matter HOW cheap it is.

What the . Are you guys that are saying this doesn t work and is only a charging kit serious. Maybe it s because the driver hasn t been released back in the day, but you re all very wrong. Step 1, insert controller to play and charge kit Step 2, insert

play and charge kit into PC Step 3, install driver from computer Step 4, choose a driver from list Step 5, gaming controller Step 6, Windows Step 7, XBOX 360 Controller via Play and Charge USB Step 8. Enjoy your controller. This works on Windows 7, and it

is meant to work on older versions as far as I m aware. But it most definitely works on Win7.

Hey peeps, Good news and Bad news.

The good news is that the plug and charge WILL work with the pc, its just an edit needs to be made to the drivers. me and my mate stripped a wired and a wireless controller and traced the circuits the plug and charge MAY charge the battery, yes but its all

circuited virtually identically take the battery out and you can still use the controller, yes its wireless but it will work like a wired controller. My proof being, If you have two xbox s, you have to press the signal buttons to switch the controller from

one console to another now wrap your controller in aluminum foil oh look it DC ed connect the plug and charge wire and re-wrap it in foil its a wireless controller but the cable makes it act wired. full signal. this proves the plug and charge wire

does actually send and recieve more than just charge/battery data. so, theoretically, it can be used on a windows pc to play games. whew now the bad news: Nobody i have found has yet edited the drivers for the plug and charge wire to make it work. so

we have  theoretically sound proof that it can be done, anyone good with driver editing.

removed Unfortunately this won t work. The Play and Charge kit only connects up to the actual battery. The controller still connects over wireless. You d need either a wired Xbox 360 controller, or a Xbox 360 Wireless Gaming Receiver which will connect

to your existing wireless controller. Paul Smith - MVP for Windows Desktop Experience I ve crawled off NNTP - for now. Posting from Aldershot, UK. On the internet atwindowsresource.net and dasmirnov.net. Please post back letting us know what works and

what doesn t. :- im shock as i just went out and paid for this device. first off month ago my xbox360 hard stoped working and i called up and they made me to tests then they say is it me not doing it right. and i had to go out and buy a NEW one with money

i dident have, even tho my xbox360 was under waranty. now i went out paid 15 for nothing. also i have windows 7 and what do you know. the desktop messed up after reinstall, areo ____. i tryed fixing it, but to fix it i have to delted some thing which inture

the mess up my screen as i right click. what your staff forgot to say is make sure you have windows update on or it wont do it. lucky i put it on, i know this is not down to you at all. but i have had so much bad luck with microsoft. i have study for 6 years

now in computer hardware and software. at till this point the only windows OS i find is good is xp. windows vista - bugged. windows 7- issues. now windows 8. or i heard windows next. - who to know. i find you are just trying to beat mac a sales and just bring

as much sofware and hardware out as fast as you can to beat their sales. i for one loved micosoft but now i have lost faith. im sorry but its the truth is will be buying windows 8, if it lacks or seems rushed i will be going to a diffrent OS.

It only sees it for the purpose of realizing what it needs to do thru that port send power, nothing more. If you ALSO have the Wireless Adapter plugged in though, it will complete the pairing of the two together so as to allow you to play games with

it as a controller, but it will be communicating wirelessly thru the adapter, not the Play Charge. Sorry, no super conspiracy cake for you.

JUST WANTED TO CLEAR SOMETHING UP, PLAY N CHARGE AND THE PEOPLE R SAYING ABOUT IT ONLY PROVIDING POWER TO THE BATTERIES UN SINC YOUR PAD, TAKE OUT THE BATTERY N PLUG IT IN 2 UR XBOX WHAT HAPPENS IF ITS THE SAME AS MY XBOX IT WILL PICK

IT UP N YOU CAN PLAY WITHOUT A BATTERY. YES THE REASON YOU CANT GET IT TO WORK ON A P.C IS THE WANT YOU TO BUY MORE OF THERE PRODUCTS OR OFFICIAL MICROSOFT P.C GAMING EQUIPMENT. ALL ABOUT THE MONEY, ALWAYS HAS N ALWAYS WILL.

Hi

Im about to buy the Play and Charge Kit with controller as i already have a Microsoft XBoX wireless reciever, from my previous controller being stolen from what ive read, the Play and Charge kit will charge my controller through the PC and the when done chaging

i can use it wirelessly with my PC to play games, but not simultaniously. Im i right or am i worng.

THE FEW SOLUTIONS, as i have found after a couple of my tests  may be:

-On Windows XP Professional 32bit SP3, this never happens, and always worked OK, for me

-I have also tried free evaluation version of Windows 8, and - on it - it also works,  no probs

downside: interfaces and UI, in the eval. version WIn 8 - you WILL hate, Win7

has much better ones.

-On WIndows 7 - it does NOT work: it does not reckognize the hardware, from some reason.

maybe - this is the main problem, if you CAN get it to reckognize the hardware, i m shure it

would install the appropriate driver by default, as - it should be migrated from XP, to WIn 7.

My problem in Win 7 Home Premium 64 bit was: I can t get to right place procedure in Win 7

to choose custom device or so, and to choose driver myself, and custom install hardware,

in which process, i guess we can select that it s video-sound-and-game controller, so windows

will know where to find it. In Win7, windows doesn t know: WHAT THE DEVICE IS,

from some reason.

As far i have tested on WIn7 Home Premium 64 bit. The driver, however exists on official

Microsoft micros-not site, just search for: play and charge kit win 7 driver

and it s there, but - after downloading, and reboot - it does nothing to fix the problem.

so much for the fans of Win7, as i am, and our trust to Micros-not with our money.

On the positive side, i will not change the Win 7, as: in the future, they just may put the fix,

with hte appology to customers, so let them know, which is what we are doing here, as well. community rocks, don t worry - they so much DO have the people reading the forums.

:the time will tellsooner, or laterthe time will tell

That can t actually be true cos when you plug it in, it will only install if a pad is connected and it says xbox360 wireless control with charge and play kit. Plus when you use this to plug into an xbox you dont need to sync the pad and machine. So it

can t simply be a battery charger.

wired controller, works perfectly, windows automatically installs the drivers, and with joytokey I can play any game with keyboard input

yeah  use my pnc when playing for the xbox also. but now the but when I unplug the controller while playing, it only has 10 minutes of battery life, compared to 3 hours before I bought it

If you want you computer to recognize a controller as a xbox 360 controller instead of unknown device you can manually get the driver for that. here s a basic tutorial:

click start

right click computer

click manage

go to device manager

find your controller, it should be named unknown device at this point

right click it and update driver software

browse my computer for driver software

let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer

Xbox 360 Wireless Controller via Play Charge Kit

There ya go, in my experience it allows the controller to charge properly and enables the red/ green light when it is charging or full.

Only 4 years late..

with all due respect are you high.  the play and charge is NOT just a charger. It IS in fact a proprietary M DATA TRANSFER cable used for powering the Xbox 360 controller WHILE playing  It doesnt work on the PC BC Windows doesnt recognize the damn
